You can double click on this to open the application if it’s not already displayed, and then tap on the hamburger icon for configuration. When your webcam is “Live” you’ll see the greyed out iVCam taskbar icon turn white. You can configure the resolution and framerate either via the app on your mobile device or using the iVCam app on your PC.

You now have a webcam that is available to any application that supports one such as Zoom, Skype, OBS or the built in Windows 10 Camera app. Open iVCam on your smartphone or tablet which will automatically connect across to your PC. If you’re using an iPad with a case you might be able to use its built-in stand. But you could use a car window mount, or just rest your phone against something. I’ve got a Mefoto Sidekick on a desktop tripod which is ideal. Ideally you have some way of holding your phone.

It doesn’t really make much difference but I bought the PC app which means I can connect an Android or iOS device as a webcam without having to buy any additional licenses. You can either buy a license for the app, or you can buy a license for your PC.

Downloading iVCamĭownload the app on your phone and then download and install the app on your PC. It would be nice if it was supported on Macs too but at least most Macs have some sort of webcam built in. IVCam works on iOS and Android but can only connect to a Windows machine. There is a free trial to check it works – but the trial really is just for testing. I’ve tried a few apps, but the one I’m using here costs £10 or $10 which is reasonable when you consider the price of a decent webcam and it’s a fair bit more versatile. And you can see all the participants in Zoom’s gallery view far more easily.Īn added advantage is you can use it wirelessly too, positioning it exactly where you want. You could just use your mobile device itself for a Zoom call, but especially for longer calls, being able to multitask on your computer with its big screen is far more convenient.

With the help of an app you can turn your phone into a webcam that you can use with Zoom or any other app for that matter and even use it for live streams with software like OBS. Let me know if I need to provide any additional information.Your phone most likely has a camera far more capable than even an expensive webcam. I'm not looking for crazy bells and whistles, so the more basic we can keep it, the better. If it is possible, please guide me through the setup. So my first question is whether or not what I'm trying to do is even possible? If it's not, what's the closest I can get to it using only an android phone, usb mic and pc? And from the production quality of his video he clearly uses actual cameras and not a phone, so I'm not sure if I'd even be able to hook a phone up to it anyway. I came across a video on youtube where a guy (seemingly) records video (with a camera - not screen capturing) using OBS, but I don't know if he's using an older/different version of OBS, coz I don't have half the settings he does (not to mention that he didn't actually show which setting allowed him to choose his video sources). This seems to be the best solution, and I'd have loved to go with this, but the problem with this one is that I don't have a USB to Micro USB converter and thus won't be able to plug my microphone into my phone. This is an Android app that allows you to connect and use a microphones other than your phone's built in mic. This put me off so quickly that I didn't even bother to look if I could select an alternative audio source. The problem I had with this is the terrible video resolution and lag. An Android app that allows you to stream video from your phone to your pc via wifi. I've been researching for a couple of hours, but couldn't find anything that does what I want, other than the following semi-solutions.

What I don't want is a scenario where I'm separately recording video and audio and then I have to learn how to edit videos and try to manually synchronize the video and audio in post-production. The setup I had in mind would use a pc app that allows me to hook my phone and USB mic up to my pc, and select them as the respective video and audio sources, and record everything into one file on my pc. Unfortunately I don't have a camera (or any other equipment), and thus would like to somehow use my android phone's camera. I'd like to record video and use my fancy-ish USB microphone as the audio source. Apologies in advance if this is a very noob question - I barely know anything about video production.
